Brockton Elementary School Intern Charged with Sexual Assault on 3rd Grader

Kevin Treseler, a Stonehill College student interning at a Brockton elementary school, has been arraigned on Massachusetts Sex Crimes Charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 3rd grade student.

Treseler was arraigned earlier this past week in Brockton District Court and charged with Rape of a Child and Indecent Assault & Battery on a Child Under 14.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Treseler is alleged to have committed at least four sexual assaults on the 8 year old third grader, who is a student at Angelo Elementary School in Brockton. The child reportedly identified her 3rd grade tutor, Treseler, as the person who had allegedly put his hands down her pants and raped her with his fingers on several occasions.

The allegations initially came to light after the child’s parents discovered the presence of blood when the child was wiping herself. She was taken to a Brockton hospital, and after being evaluated, medical personnel contacted the police to investigate any abuse after finding that the child had genital warts.

In the meantime, Treseler has been released on $20,000 bail pending these charges, but has been suspended from Stonehill College where he was an international business major.

The Massachusetts Sex Crime of Rape of a Child is defined as forced natural or unnatural sexual intercourse with a child under 16, and is punishable by commitment to state prison for any term of year up to life.

In addition to potential jail time, a conviction for the crime of Rape of a Child, as with many other Massachusetts Sex Crimes, requires Sex Offender Registration; the potential for community parole supervision for life, or even civil commitment as a sexually dangerous person.
